Complete description
The Charlevoix region combines the majesty of mountainous landscapes with the splendor of the St.-Lawrence as it changes from a freshwater river to a saltwater estuary. With its stunning geological formations and abundant marine life, the coast of Charlevoix is quite simply a must to explore and discover. Katabatik Adventure in Charlevoix is an ecotourism venture that unites passion for kayaking and discovery of the Charlevoix coastline, rich in flora, fauna and maritime history.
In our 2 to 5 days kayak-camping trips, you will discover the coastal landscapes of the World Biosphere Reserve of Charlevoix, the south-western section of the Saguenay - Saint-Lawrence Marine Park and the Charlevoixs meteoritic crater. Moreover, you will observe the semi-diurnal rhythms of the tidal currents, iodized odours of the sandbanks, the tapering off of the rocky capes.
Also experience camping nights along the beaches and typical regional meals - outdoor gastronomy. Finally, with a little luck, you will come upon marine birds and mammals, observe fin whales, minky, belugas, porpoises and seals.
Most tours are designed with novice in mind and some inexperienced paddlers can be accommodated on any of the trips. Departures from June to October. Complete day-by-day itineraries at www.katabatik.ca.
